To remove adhesive from surfaces where child proof items have been mounted, wipe off remaining adhesive with a soft cloth and warm soapy water or roll adhesive off surface with fingers and clean the surface according to manufacturer’s recommendations.  Goo Gone is a commercially available product for adhesive removal.
